I just cleared Step 1 and wanted to share what worked for me — coming from a Caribbean med school.

Happy to answer any questions on study schedules or resources! Smile

How do Caribbean medical schools prepare students for the USMLE?
Posted by: Josette - 07-17-2025, 06:54 PM - Forum: Ask general academic and policy questions - No Replies

Most Caribbean medical schools design their curriculum around USMLE standards. The first two years focus on basic sciences aligned with USMLE Step 1 content, while clinical rotations help with Step 2 CK prep. Frequent assessments using NBME-style questions simulate the actual exam.

How do Caribbean medical schools help with USMLE preparation?
Posted by: Isabelle - 07-16-2025, 06:49 PM - Forum: Ask general academic and policy questions - No Replies

Caribbean medical schools design their academic programs to align closely with the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK content. Most schools follow a U.S.-modeled curriculum with systems-based learning, integrated basic sciences, and clinical correlations. They offer structured USMLE review courses, NBME-style practice exams, and Kaplan or Becker resources as part of the curriculum. Dedicated faculty mentoring, exam prep workshops, and early exposure to clinical reasoning help students build a strong foundation.
